Is this guy a player or a keeper?

On facebook, this guy was always requested for me. He went to my friends school and she was his sisters friend. We started texting and we are really flirty now. We sometimes joke about y stuff and then we really care about eachother, well it seems that way. He texts me first every single day..Just sometimes all he responds is "haa..". But today I said sorry bc he had a bad school day and he told me "it's all fine, you didn't do anything". We talked about skyping and meeting eachother face to face. He asked me to go to the county fair with him but I couldn't go. I asked when I could see him and he said my swim meet at his school, which is in January. And I tried to hint that I was upset he'd wait that long and all he said is"yeahh it's gay" WTF? Idk I'm really confused and this guy is by far one of the beat guys ive ever liked. Should I just ask him what he thinks of me or is that to straightforward?
