Need help deciding between two computers; I don't want to make the same mistake three times...?

Go with the cheaper and upgrade later. Though I have to say, I went and configured that mode myself just now and mine only came to about $750, not sure why the difference. Anyways, definately go with the cheaper one, you have the right idea. IM me if you can, as I think I can help you configure it a little less expensive.
