Sidereal astro and cusps...?

I'm a Cancer (June 23) so that puts me in the Gemini-Cancer cusp. Someone answered another question with "i use sidereal astro, which would move you back 17 degrees...to a definite Gemini." So...I've always thought of myself as a Cancer. What does this person mean by that? And am I really a Gemini?
