I live in an apartment complex, what can I use to keep cats off my car?

I live in an apartment complex and at night cats jump on my car and walk from the front to the back and leave footprints and scratches on it. I have tried spraying my parking area down with ammonia but they still get on the car. I dont want to put anything down that might hurt the other animals that live in the complex . Please help at wits end.
